Resource & Referral
Information about child care options at other installations is available through Parent Central Services. The Parent Central Service staff can contact their counterparts at other installation to determine availability of child care and assist you in placing your child on a waiting list for CYSS programs. Via the Global Household Import/Export feature available through CYMS (Child and Youth Management System), Parent Central staff can also export you household file in order to allow the receiving installation to import the information into their database. This significantly reduces the amount of time necessary for registration. This feature can also be used locally to import household files from other Army installations.
Parent Services
Parent and Outreach Services offers a variety of training programs and resources. We offer a Parent Education Program that is held quarterly during the Parent Advisory Council meetings. Topics range from developmental issues to technology to child abuse prevention. Suggestions for workshop topics are welcome. The Parent Participation Program encourages parents to become an active partner in children and youth programs. When parents are involved in the programs it is rewarding for the child and increases the quality of the programs. Through our Parent Participation Program, we strive to help family members improve their understanding skills as parents. Many activities earn Parent Participation Points which may be used for a 10% discount on child care charges.
CYSS Sitter Training & Referral
Babysitting Training Courses for youth are offered throughout the year. All babysitters must be 13 - 18 years old and be certified and trained before being added to the Teen Post Babysitter List. Areas of training include but are not limited to First Aid, CPR, Safety and Health conditions for children. If your child would like to learn the skills and tasks associated with caring for children and running their own business, please call 633-7681 to sign up for the next training session. The Teen Post Babysitter List is available at all CYSS facilities.
Kids-On-Site
Kids-On-Site equates to on-site child care for special functions. Coordination must be made with the Parent and Outreach Services Director at least 4 weeks prior to the event to discuss procedures for site approval, registration and fees.
Volunteer Services
CYSS appreciates the efforts our volunteers make and thanks them for being understanding and adhering to the requirements before working with Army children and youth. CYSS Volunteers must have a Volunteer Agreement Form on file (DD Form 2793), and must successfully complete the background screenings annually (reference AR 608-10, para 2-24) and attend a Child Abuse Course and Special Needs Class (reference AR 608-10, para 3-17) as well as CPR and First Aid certification. In addition to these courses, Child Youth and School Services requires volunteer coaches to attend the National Youth Sport Coach Association course annually. Background screenings must be completed by the following: Army Family Advocacy Program/Army Central Registry, Provost Marshal, Criminal Investigation Division and Army Substance Abuse Program.
CYSS also provides volunteer opportunities for the children and youth in the program. The Promise Passport Volunteer Program is designed to promote a volunteer spirit and service attitude. Our goal is to provide young people with the opportunity to serve and become active citizens of the in their community.
