The New Parent Support Program is a voluntary program offered to Army families to enhance parent and child attachment, to increase knowledge of child development and positive parenting skills, and to provide connections to the support services that assist parents in their endeavors to be nurturing and capable caregivers.
The New Parent Support Program staff consists of professionals who provide parenting education, support and resource linkage. Military and civilian ID card holder families expecting a new baby or with children between the ages of birth to six-years are eligible for NPSP services. Our program consists of the following:
Home and/or Office Visitation Our professional staff provides supportive and caring services to individual families with children from 0-6 years of age. They can talk about your concerns as a parent or parent-to-be, help you learn to cope with stress, isolation, post deployment reunions and the everyday demands of parenthood in the privacy and comfort of your home or at the NPSP office.
Villaggio Playgroup An interactive playgroup to assist parents in learning developmentally appropriate play techniques and to help children improve their social, cognitive, and motor skills. Structured activities include singing, story time, craft project s, and free play time. Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the Villaggio YS Building. Pre-registration is not required. This program is offered in conjunction with Educational and Developmental Intervention Services.
Daddy Basic Training This class is designed to offer new dads education and empowerment as they meet the challenges of becoming fathers. The class emphasizes the importance of the father’s role in preparing them to be active participants in parenting and childcare. Although this class is geared toward first-time dads, moms are more than welcome to attend.
