YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) is a way for people of the Army to provide input to the Army leadership. It's process that lets Soldiers and Families say what's working, and what isn't in the Army community - AND what they think will fix it. It alerts commanders and Army leaders to areas of concern that need their attention and it gives them the opportunity to put plans into place to work toward resolving the issues.

Some examples of changes that have occurred through the AFAP process include:

  • Service members' Group Life Insurance increased from $50,000 to $450.000.00.
  • Basic Allowance for Housing increased by 11%.
  • Thrift Savings Plan for Military was authorized and implemented.
  • AER provides grants in overseas locations to assist with financial aid for spouses to pursue undergrad, vo/tech high school completion, and English as a Second Language studies.
  • A vehicle can be stored at government expense when a Soldier is reassigned to an area where shipment is not authorized.
  • Family Separation Allowance was increased from $75 to $100 per month.
  • Family Support Groups were institutionalized.
  • Programs like Army Family Team Building (AFTB) and Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) were born.

There are many ways you can make a difference. If you know of a way to make the community a better place you can:
1. Go and talk to the manager of the facility
2. Submit and Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE)
3. Submit a local issue through Info X
4. Submit an Army or OCONUS wide issue to the local AFAP conference
5. Become an AFAP Volunteer by filling out the application found on this website
